Wood is Good since 1992

A Final for the Ages!

Bullock/Hing defeat Gibson/Schartman

7-5, 4-6, 6-2

Spencer Hing and Matt Bullock proudly display the "Man of Wood" Champions Trophy. This is Spencer's first Woody title in only two years of eligibility. Matt Bullock is a two time Woody champion with multiple final and semifinal appearances over his 19 woody years. "Matt was on his game from the early rounds. It was quickly apparent he meant business this weekend," so says Woody player rep. Kevin Frazier.

Hing Dynasty in the making?

Spencer Hing was the first to break the generation barrier in 2008 at 18 years where he reached the semifinals. Today he is the youngest Woody champ of all time.

Matt Bullock, a Woody champion in 2002 and veteran of all 19 Woody's. Matt's catlike reflexes, and a calculating tennis mind reminiscent of chess master Bobby Fischer - he was the bow and Hing was the arrow. Only a round robin format could create such an epic conflagration of talents.

Their opponents - Joe Schartman, last year's finalist (losing 8-6 in the third, ouch...) and six year Woody veteran, partners with Dennis Gibson, talented veteran active pro from San Francisco (and name sake of the mid-tourney re-seeding debacle now know as the "Dennis Event"), they could not overcome the persistent pressure that define champions - Men of Wood both.
